Baron George Rules

Name: George Mingdoa Jetson III, majority shareholder & Captain of M.S. Laburnum Varabile.
Notes: Baron Jetson grew up in a wealthy merchant family in the Core and was originally an Alliance supporter in the Unification War. Several of his friends from school and merchant academy died at the hands of Alliance gunboats while trying to conduct legitimate business with Independent worlds. Soured on the heavy-handedness of the all-pervasive Alliance Fascist Oligarchy, George vowed he would get out into the black to find business opportunity among the settlers, and live where he could keep as far from the Government as was humanly possible.
After the secret of Miranda was broadcast by Malcolm Reynolds, there began a short period of blood in the courts as the power structures of the Alliance shifted. George's father was one of those purged by agents of the Blue Sun Corporation. So, when the Baron inherited his father's estate, he liquidated the family's holdings, sold his condominium on Sihnon, and formed a corporation with his sister and an engineer friend-of-the-family (with another handful of select investors) for the purpose of seeking his fortune sailing the black. The funds raised for this business venture were used to commission a new Serenity-class freighter, hire crew & supplies, and a cargo load of valuables, and head for the rim to purchase commodities and get a feel for the markets and other opportunities.
On her maiden voyage, the M.S. Ataraxis precipitated through a wormhole opened in the Oort cloud by a galactic gravity quake. The Baron, first time captain of his own ship found himself in the Sargasso of Space and was in turn rescued by the valiant actions of the M.S. Boadicea and HMS Bayern.
After the M.S. Ataraxis precipitated back into normal space with the other survivors near Prometheus, the Baron was required to register his ship with the Imperial Naval Attache and have a compliant transponder connected. The jump drives, gravity/HePlaR maneuver drive system, and fusion power plant, as well as the other systems of the ship appeared to be unaffected by the transfer into the otu Universe, and with the hard work of Chief MacKinstry, the ship was released from impound and eligible to fly in Imperium Space.
While this year-long process wound it's way through it's bureaucratic path, George's sister Anya signed on to sail on the M.S. Boadicea, and became good friends with Egron G'vargh.
The Baron was required to re-register his corporation and give the Emperor a 1% Stake. George despised himself for going along with the Imperial system. but he could see that in the polities of humanity, with the communications lag, business friendly tax systems, and vast distances that many loopholes would exist which would allow many great business opportunities not available in the 'Verse with the Alliance still breathing down his neck. And the only way to get doors opened in Imperial space was to be part of the peerage, so... he had to go along with the social structure of the Imperium to do business until he could find a way back to the 'Verse. He may yet not even care to leave, since he has managed to amass huge capital reserves in a short time.
The Baron is a great schmoozer and is a very aggressive businessman. He has, however stepped on a few toes by making deals in Yakuza and Tong territories without making any cut to the bosses. The Baron is used to watching his back and has a great crew to help him out, and he has learned to be a bit more circumspect in his future dealings. But George Jetson is always on the lookout for a way to make serious coin; the crew is extremely loyal to the Baron since he has brought the company stock up to almost three times the IPO value.

The M.S. Ataraxis was eventually sold, then replaced by the M.S. Ataraxis II.
The M.S. Ataraxis II was joined by the M.S. Eightfold Way when George married Lady Farin and combined assets. When Earth fell to the Imperium, George fled with the two ships and with all family and crew. Lady Farin liquidated her holdings on Mars, and because of George's expensively purchased Imperial citizenship they were able to flee from both the Imperium and the Solomani. Professor MacDougal chose to accompany the evacuation (with his handy machine:).
Most of Lady Farin's assets were tied up in her company's shipyard in the moon, Phobos, above Mars.

As Lady Farin, Schuyler North, and Allison Kozhinsky had just completed shutdown of the company yards, and were just leaving the mothballed support shipyard on Phobos, Imperial Marines destroyed the Solomani base on Deimos (and the moon itself). Lady Farin and crew escaped in a fast stealth courier, and as Imperial agents caught wind of her escape and tried to intercept her meeting with George, were thwarted again and again by the foresight of George Jetson. Together they safely disappeared into less war-like regions of Imperial space until any pursuing agents were firmly no longer alive or pursuing. When crossing to Aslani space and the J-5 route across the rift, George made an alliance with a certain Alsani clan for the right to cross and trade along the J-5 route. Just as the caravan was beginning the crossing, a inter-clan war broke out requiring the services of George's ships. In the fighting of the last battle, George's ship's were destroyed, but no hands were lost. The Aslani clan awarded George with enough funds to build a new ship for his business. The new ship is the "M.S. Laburnum Varabile" .

The Baroness, Lady Farin, as Controller of the Earth Restoration Trust brings 10,115 shares of Boadicea Merchant Company Stock and all other assets having been liquidated (cash at 1,331McrImp in bullion and financial instruments).
The Baroness was able to rescue most of her family's assets, but the Invasion of Earth makes all her connections and influence within twenty-five parsecs of Sol/Terra/Earth a hindrance. She is broken-hearted by the seizure of her Fief on Mars, and the destruction of Deimos, and she can only assume from the last sensors reading before jump, Phobos as well. Whatever her love of Imperial approval and riches had been, it is certain that her hatred toward the Imperium for the damage to Mars and Earth, as well as the two planets' continued subjugation by Imperial forces, has earned an undying hatred that will smolder in her heart has she smiles and does business. She will find a way to make payback--she has all the names of the leadership of the local Imperial Marquis and his superiors involved with the Invasion of Earth--payback is a Bee-otch.

Her desire to advance her own personal peace and affluence overrides political considerations, however, and her love for George has placed him and his goals as first priority. Shown below, Schuyler is leaving his home in Texas (N. America, Fed. States, Republic of Texas, Terra-Earth) for Mars to mothball the shipyards on Phobos and Deimos, and to take command of the Courier/Escort HMS Eightfold Way: {The weapon below is named Gwendoline, the Captain is partial to this weapon, so anyone in the crew getting too close to his girl will induce anger in the old man.}
UPDATE: Col. North has signed on as 1st Officer aboard the "M.S. Laburnum Varabile".

Schuyler was able to liquidate assets and convert to bullion and other financial instruments to hide his money before it could be taken by the Imperium. He can't do anything about his lovely home in Texas or his custom golf clubs that were in the garage of his home when he had to flee the Solar system. He did escape with his favorite guns from his collection.

2nd Pilot, 2nd Officer Lt. Col. Elizabeth Marie DeWitt, "M.S. Laburnum Varabile"
Name: Elizabeth Marie DeWitt, Expert Pilot (M.S. Laburnum Varabile)
Elizabeth was originally from Earth from one of the richer nations (N. America). She took top honors at the Terran Confederation Aerospace Academy in San Francisco where she majored in Aeronautical Engineering. Rather than submit to the draft and because of an interest in flying, she volunteered for service in Earth's (Terra's) Close Orbit and Aerospace Command and Control as an interceptor pilot. After a ten year marriage to Major Dmitre Blavatsky who died in one of the Interstellar wars, she grew sour on warfare and felt that a cultural and economic victory is a better way to conquer another civilization. After retiring from COACC, she shipped out on various merchant/explorer missions and made friends and contacts with the Vilani and Terrans alike.
On a return trip to Earth, her ship was caught in a temporal warp connected with space-time fluctuations resulting from the Galactic gravitational quake which created the Sargasso of Space.
She and her fellow crew members were rescued when the crew of the M.S. Boadicea and the Space Zeppelin HMS Bayern found a way to jump out of the Sargasso back into real-space near Prometheus. All the survivors were escorted by Imperial Warships to the local base and processed and released; Liz and the other survivors began to accept that their lives must include this strange future. They all began to be assimilated into Imperial culture.
After adjusting to the shock of finding one's self 3500 years in the future, she traveled a little finally settling on Cymbeline where she went back to flight school to learn the new technology and to take her mind off of the loss of everyone she had ever known. After graduating at the top of her class at the Merchant's Pilot School of Cymbeline, she took employment on various small merchant ships and exploration missions.
During one mission to the unexplored garden world, Janus, to survey an archaeological site where Artifacts of the Ancients (or Forerunners) were being discovered, a nano-virus plague was triggered. Fortunately for the sponsoring company, this was the last working security defense in a cave containing a major trove of Ancient's artifacts. Unfortunately for Elizabeth and her party, they became infected with the virus. The nine other persons in her party died painfully from the virus, she survived in mutated state. She had become stronger and smarter from the experience, but her condition could not be reversed by current technology. Her employer fired her and the Merchant Guild disowned her since the nano-virus had subtlety altered her dna to make her into a Green Person (social stigma).

(Rumors abound that this nano-virus is not Ancient's technology, but is rather an experiment by unknown agencies within the Imperial Government. Some believe that it is a discovery by a rogue scientist that was in turn given to the Ine Givar.)
Unemployed, living in a cheap apartment in Startown on Loki, she felt as if she were truly rescued from her downward spiral when the M.S. Ataraxis hired her as a relief pilot while in port. Since she has no home, the Boadicea Merchant Company has become the closest thing to home or family.
UPDATE: Liz is an early and loyal employee of BMC, Inc. and is starting to build equity with the company. Soon after joining the company, she came to know a long-time client of BMC, Prof. MacDougal. For various reasons, not worth going through now, her ship ended up settling into a time during the 'run-up' to the Solomani Rim war. With the professor's time machine, Liz attempted to return to her time back on twentieth century Earth and altered the timeline. As everyone tried to follow a plan devised by the professor to restore the time-line, the gate crash occurred (in Universe B) which had an effect on parallel branches of the multi-verse. This happens to be just when, well what ever... perhaps we'll make it back home, but everyone aboard is displaced from different branches of the multi-verse.

She is now retired from active service with a "new" Scout/Courier Mk.2A of her own to fly the black in the hopes of finding that planet where she can find rest.

Weapons Officer/Gunner#1, 3rd Officer Major Cassandra de Haviland, "M.S. Laburnum Varabile"
Name: Cassandra Marie de Haviland, Ex-Warrior/Barbarian, Ex-Imperial Marines, Force Recon., Major (Rank3)
She is an older sister to Dr. de Haviland (q.v.) and very similar in appearance, often mistaken as a twin of Virginia. Cassandra was always interested in warfare and outdoors activities; when she was twelve, she was sent to live with an uncle off-planet who was a retired marine and avid hunter. At age sixteen while on safari to a primitive planet, her uncle was killed by a giant bear-like creature that she was able to kill with her sword. She was raised by the natives of the planet and taught the skills of a warrior. When an Imperial Marines recruiting drive came to the planet, she volunteered to get passage off-planet. During training, her intelligence was noted and she was offered OCS training which she excelled at. Because of her background with primitive technology and excellent hand-to-hand skills, she was assigned to Force Recon for special operations and infiltration. When she was finally able to return to Tonopah, she learned of the disgrace of her sister and the reprisals against her family. She is suspected of the murder of a church leader on Tonopah and is under a fatwa; this is ok with her as she would love to carve up some more of the church's minions. She has finally found her sister and is very protective; she has resigned from the Imperial Marines to serve where she can to keep an eye on her sister.

Custom hand-and-half katana-like bastard sabre made from Collapsed hyperdense crystal-iron inlaid with mithril silver of extremely fine quality finished to a monomolecular edge; this sword is one of a kind and a family heirloom from her uncle. The sword is sheathed in a gravity sheath scabbard of Ancient's Technology, but covered in inlaid mithril and fire gems. The scabbard is also a family heirloom and kept a secret from the Imperial government.
Among her personal effects is a fine mahogany box of a pair of matched 11mm Magnum caliber revolvers (similar to the S&W M29 .44 Magnum or Colt Anaconda .44 Magnum) of very fine quality, a matched pair of very fine 11mm Magnum Derringers (VF Quality), and another mahogany chest of 10,000 rounds of 11mm Magnum ammunition. These revolvers are used by Cassandra when it is apparent that a firefight is imminent; in casual attire and subject to the control rating of the jurisdiction, she will usually have a Derringer or two concealed and will be openly wearing the sabre.

Ship's Doctor, 2nd Officer Dr. Virginia de Haviland, "M.S. Laburnum Varabile"
Name: Dr. Virginia Gwendoline de Haviland, M.D.
When Dr. Virginia de Haviland had just completed her residency and had been licensed by the Imperial Medical Bureau, during psychological screening for a position at a Church of Tonopah hospital, it came out that she was molested by a church leader when she was a teenager. To avoid trouble, the Church began a smear campaign against Virginia and her family. She left her life on Tonopah in disgrace, her family not believing her, and assumed a new identity on Cymbeline.
Since it was difficult to get a medical license under a new identity without some background history, she decided to sign on as a Ship's Doctor aboard the M.S. Boadicea and now aboard the M.S. Ataraxis. Her sister, Cassandra, finally caught up to her when the ship was in port at the Terra system (Sol, xxxx). She is relieved to hear that her immediate family has been safely settled on Cymbeline, and her sister has sworn to stay close to her. She does not know of some of the deeds of her sister, and would not understand because, despite her abuse, she is a pacifist.
